 M100 core WFPC1

This image of spiral galaxy M100 was taken with the Hubble Space Telescope's Wide Field/Planetary Camera 1 in 1993. The photo is blurry due to a manufacturing flaw in Hubble's primary mirror, which created an optical effect called spherical aberration. Celestial images could not be brought into a single focus.
